What we do
Festival distribution for short and documentary films
STEZA is a boutique festival agency run by three working directors. We take on a small number of films a year and carry each one from the first viewing to meeting its audience.
For shorts and debut films the festival run is usually the place where the film truly meets its audience for the first time. That is where it gains a name, a story and a way forward, so we treat the route as something to be built rather than guessed.
A route built for one film
We do not send a film everywhere at once. We watch it closely, work out where it can resonate strongest, and build the run step by step: premiere tier first, then the sections and the timing that follow from it. A wrong premiere costs a year.
Submissions and letters written by us
We write to programmers ourselves, by name, about that film. We track premiere status, deadlines and materials, and we keep the paperwork off the director’s desk, so the director can think about cinema.
Materials prepared properly
Synopsis, press kit, stills, subtitles and translations. Most rejections that look like taste are in fact a late file, a missing subtitle track or a synopsis that does not say what the film is.
What comes back
Screening fees, prizes and sales after the run, with an itemised report. We know this side from our own work: we handled the distribution of the documentary Duality ourselves and closed two deals on it.
Watching your film is free and we answer everyone.
Catalogue films pay nothing upfront: we take a commission on sales and paid screenings we bring. Campaign services come at flat fees. Prizes are yours in full.
Every right stays with you. We ask for no exclusivity you have not agreed to in writing.
